What is the Romans Road to Salvation?

Answer:  The Romans Road to salvation is a way of explaining the good news of salvation using verses from the Book of Romans.  It is a simple yet powerful method of explaining why we need salvation, how God provided salvation, how we can receive salvation, and what is the assurance of salvation.

We need salvation because we have all sinned and the punishment for our sin is death.  Not just physical death, but also spiritual death!

Romans 3:10     "As it is written, THERE IS NONE RIGHTEOUS, NO, NOT ONE:"
Romans 3:23
"For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God.
Romans 5:12
"Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by
sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned:"

Romans 6:23
"For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life
                          through Jesus Christ our Lord.

God provided salvation through Jesus Christ who died on the cross to pay our sin debt!   Jesus' resurrection proves that God accepted Jesus' death as full payment for all our sin.

Romans 5:8      "But God commendeth His love toward us, in that, while we were yet
                          sinners, Christ died for us.
"

We can receive salvation just by believing that Jesus died on the cross on our behalf, trusting His death as the payment for our sin - and we will be saved!   Jesus died to pay the penalty for our sin and rescued us from eternal death.  Salvation, the forgiveness of sin, is available to anyone who will trust in Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior.

Romans 10:9     "That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus ,and shalt
believe in thine heart that God hath raised Him from the dead, thou
                           shalt be saved.
 "
Romans 10:10
"For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the
mouth confession is made unto salvation."
Romans 10:11     "For the scripture saith, WHOSOEVER BELIEVETH ON HIM SHALL
                           NOT BE ASHAMED. "

Romans 10:13
"For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.

The final aspect of the Romans Road to Salvation is the assurance of salvation. Through Jesus Christ we can have a relationship of peace with God.  Because of Jesus' death on our behalf, we will never be condemned for our sin.

Romans 5:1      "Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God
                          through our Lord Jesus Christ.
"
Romans 8:1
"There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ
Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the spirit.
"
Romans 8:35
"Who shall separate us from the love of Christ?  shall tribulation, or
distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword?"

Romans 8:38
"For I am persuaded,  that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor
principalities, nor power, nor things present, nor things to come,"

Romans 8:39
"Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to
separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
"

Would you like to follow the Romans Road to Salvation?  If so, here is a simple sinners prayer you can pray to God.  Saying this prayer is a way to declare to God that you are relying on Jesus Christ for your salvation.  The words themselves will not save you.  Only faith in Jesus Christ can provide salvation!

PRAY TO GOD:  "God, I know that I have sinned against you and am deserving of punishment.  But Jesus Christ took the punishment that I deserve so that through faith in Him I could be forgiven.  With your help, I place my trust in You for Salvation.  Thank You for Your wonderful grace and forgiveness - the gift of eternal life!  Amen!"
